Depo-Provera

Depo-provera is a contraceptive injection.

Depo-Provera aka medroxyprogesterone acetate, is a contraceptive for women that contains the hormone progestin and is meant to suppress ovulation, keeping the ovaries from releasing an egg. Women receive this injection every three months somewhere around the upper thigh/buttocks area. In 2005, it was approved by the FDA for Endometriosis related pain and was considered the first new treatment for Endo in over a decade.

I started taking this in the summer of August 2018 up until January 2019. My doctor explained and hoped that since this would reduce my estrogen and stop my menstrual cycle, that it could help reduce my pain.

My body felt like it was on pause. I did not get a menstrual cycle while on this medication but did experience occasional spotting.

Needless to say, this did not help.
