Coping with Cooking

Coping with Cooking

Now that food and I have broken up, It’s been difficult to cook.

I don’t like the smell of many things; even the thought of certain foods make me nauseous and it’s hard to cook with no appetite. But when you live with your “grown ass man” partner, cooking is very necessary. There have been a few things that have made it easier to navigate the kitchen during this difficult time; help from my partner, kitchen gadgets and appliances, and Amazon Fresh. Man, listen, shout to my mom and aunt for constantly buying us the latest and greatest in kitchen gadgets/appliances. Without those tools, we’d definitely be living off of cereal.

Help from my partner has been the most vital to getting shit done in my household. We now prep and cook together, which is actually cute and fun. He has also taken over breakfast duty and his french toast is slamming, okay? And to make it all even better, he is now in charge of washing dishes at all times! If you’re wondering if we have a dish washer, our pre-war NYC apartment does not have one. So this is a big win for me.

Instant Pot and Air Fryer are my go-to’s in the kitchen game. I have the 6qt 7-in-1, which a combines Pressure Cooker, Slow Cooker, Rice Cooker, Steamer, Sauté, Yogurt Maker and Warmer all-in-one and it prepares meals up to 70% faster. That’s enough to get me to commit.

Living in NYC, we are definitely spoiled with many delivery services. Ordering groceries has never been easier with multiple app platforms and now most grocery stores even offer delivery. While most platforms generally are the same, Amazon Fresh does stand out to me. AF is rarely out of stock, they offer many items, you can usually get your groceries within 24hr of ordering, and the produce is always fresh. I also prefer AF because I appreciate their customer service.
